Im 17, I can't vote, WHY exactly? (Liberal) My hypothetical platform?
Take a look at my political platform, them tell me I don’t have "widom or experience" to vote.
1.Middle east conflicts: I
‘d have never gone into Iraq, not the way we did. I would’ve ordered a COVERT killing of Saddum, trying to pin in Iraqi minority nationalists, who’d be happy to take the responsibility. Civil war erupts, as it will, and the United States THEN intervenes on the side of the majority population (who, like most, generally want democracy.) In and out in a few months. Iraq would probably go under another civil war, or more, but it’s necessary and nothing we can prevent. ALTERNATIVELY: Saddam could have been left alone, as he was a great buffer against islamic radical groups, who generally threatened his authority. As for Afghanistan, I’d send as many troops as we can to the Afghan/pakistanian border, because that’s where the problem is.
2. Economy: Obama hot the nail on the head here: Congressional figures aren’t all economic experts, and all economic issues aren’t the same. So a bi-partisan (or non partisan) team of economic experts would better make decisions. Perhaps even give them a degree of legislative authority, although only in that field.
For non specific issues, I’m probably somewhat big government, but to a degree. Money spent can be a very good thing, when done reasonably, but the deficit needs to be watched, and any spending really should have a safe return assurance. More income should equal higher taxes, although only proportionally: Taxes should be moderately low, with a government making profit in Foreign trade.
3.Healthcare: Social Healthcare is nice, but dangerous- a quick glance at the British system shows that quite clearly. So, the private system needs to be kept in place. However, if a separate gov. system were to exist for those who couldn’t afford it, I’d be all for it…..IF by it’s passing, those who choosethe private system don’t haveto accept the public systems insurance. Again, separation.
4. Gay marriage: Seriously a boring issue and a waste of time. I’d say in a democratic free country, you really have to allow it, but it’s not important enough to receive the attention it gets.
5. immigration: illegal immigrants hurt the economy? How so? Ok, sure, they take jobs and dont pay taxes, but they are the cheapest labor source anywhere in the country. The jobs they "steal" are paid 2 dollars on hour for 12 hours a day….this keeps your prices nice and low, and is necessary for the economy.
i could put more, but i dont have time. ill d later
Why? Because the voting age is 18 by law
Love's Apothecary | Feb 05, 2010
Because the law says you have to be 18 years of age. If you don’t like it then write your elected officials.
Patriots United for Liberty | Feb 05, 2010
well, you have to be 18 to vote, i think anyone should vote, oh well. the government it rubbish
Geronimo96 | Feb 05, 2010
You aren’t a liberal, you are more of a conservative democrat. I’m sorry, that is what the law says.
Mike Honcho | Feb 05, 2010
Right off the bat you have teleprompter issues.
WTF – widom?
Common Sense | Feb 05, 2010
You have to be 18 according to the law.
Dave | Feb 05, 2010
You have more spelling and grammatical errors than I can count. In a post this long, where you attempt to show your vast knowledge on topics, is proof enough that you should not be allowed to vote.
Kermit | Feb 05, 2010
It doesn’t matter what your platform is- the voting age is 18. Period. You can vote starting on your 18th birthday.
Lily | Feb 05, 2010
you are just regurgitating stuff you herd on TV and internet.
you have no life experience, you don’t work. you are not fully self supporting by your own means.
and you misspelled wisdom.
hoodrich69 | Feb 05, 2010
Because there needs to be a line and that is 18 years of age.
Sam | Feb 05, 2010
I’ll do you one better than that…
Why is it an 18 yr old can join the Military, but not drink ?
THAT’S THE WAY IT IS !!!!!
