Im 17, I can't vote, WHY exactly? (Liberal) My hypothetical platform?
Take a look at my political platform, them tell me I don’t have "widom or experience" to vote.

1.Middle east conflicts: I
‘d have never gone into Iraq, not the way we did. I would’ve ordered a COVERT killing of Saddum, trying to pin in Iraqi minority nationalists, who’d be happy to take the responsibility. Civil war erupts, as it will, and the United States THEN intervenes on the side of the majority population (who, like most, generally want democracy.) In and out in a few months. Iraq would probably go under another civil war, or more, but it’s necessary and nothing we can prevent. ALTERNATIVELY: Saddam could have been left alone, as he was a great buffer against islamic radical groups, who generally threatened his authority. As for Afghanistan, I’d send as many troops as we can to the Afghan/pakistanian border, because that’s where the problem is.

2. Economy: Obama hot the nail on the head here: Congressional figures aren’t all economic experts, and all economic issues aren’t the same. So a bi-partisan (or non partisan) team of economic experts would better make decisions. Perhaps even give them a degree of legislative authority, although only in that field.
For non specific issues, I’m probably somewhat big government, but to a degree. Money spent can be a very good thing, when done reasonably, but the deficit needs to be watched, and any spending really should have a safe return assurance. More income should equal higher taxes, although only proportionally: Taxes should be moderately low, with a government making profit in Foreign trade.

3.Healthcare: Social Healthcare is nice, but dangerous- a quick glance at the British system shows that quite clearly. So, the private system needs to be kept in place. However, if a separate gov. system were to exist for those who couldn’t afford it, I’d be all for it…..IF by it’s passing, those who choosethe private system don’t haveto accept the public systems insurance. Again, separation.

4. Gay marriage: Seriously a boring issue and a waste of time. I’d say in a democratic free country, you really have to allow it, but it’s not important enough to receive the attention it gets.

5. immigration: illegal immigrants hurt the economy? How so? Ok, sure, they take jobs and dont pay taxes, but they are the cheapest labor source anywhere in the country. The jobs they "steal" are paid 2 dollars on hour for 12 hours a day….this keeps your prices nice and low, and is necessary for the economy.

i could put more, but i dont have time. ill d later

Why? Because the voting age is 18 by law

Because the law says you have to be 18 years of age. If you don’t like it then write your elected officials.

Which movie is better and why?
Shanghai Noon, or Shanghai Knights?

Shanghai Knights, because on TV they always show Shanghai Noon and I get really tired of it. And because it’s better made and funnier.

Hope this helps

What do I do about my situation?
My boyfriend and I broke up about a month ago knowing that we weren’t meant for each other. I promised I would never leave him and he did the same. But to make things easier on me, he decided to disappear. I think I still love. I think that I still love him more than anything and I would love to hold on to him forever but I know that it’s not for the best. My heart has been crying over him but I have to let him go. Today, he tells me that he still has feelings for me. What should I do? I am a terrible basket case if I have any down time without him. But I know that there is someone truly special, that he is really meant to be with out there for him. Anybody? Help?

If you know that he is not meant for you then let him go. It will be painful but its for the best, in the long run. Help with mine pls http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index? qid=20100208224318AApkFuq

Well if you really like him i think you should try it out and see where it goes.
Peter | Feb 09, 2010

Well how did you know you weren’t meant for each other? To be honest I think if you love somebody and you want them in your life, why not be with them? Loving somebody isn’t enough, you need to work in a relationship. It’s not always going to be easy.

Just do what you want to do, bottom line, do you want him in your life? Do you care about him being with someone else? If you do, then be with him.. I don’t see how you KNOW you weren’t meant to be together. If you get along well and love each other… why not?

But otherwise, if you’re deadset on not being with him.. nothing else is going to heal a broken heart as well as time. So goodluck.

Meet the Robinsons

Meet the Robinsons
Meet the Robinsons (2007)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: Meet the Robinsons is filled with extraordinarily inappropriate and insensitive messages about adoption that will be disturbing to many children. The basic story is about an adorable baby whose birthmother leaves him on the doorstep of an orphanage. Portrayed as loving, sweet, extremely smart and overly appealing, he spends the next 12 years of his life wanting a family and being turned down by one family after another – in all, 114 couples refuse to adopt him. One disturbing scene shows a prospective dad losing interest in adopting the child because the youngster is more interested in science than sports. When he accidentally splatters them with food from his science project, both prospective parents walk out in a huff , leaving one very sad and disappointed little boy. Since no one else wants him, the child invents a time machine that will take him back in time to find his birth mother. The “bad guy” in his time travel journey turns out to be his best childhood buddy who was once his orphanage roommate. Now an emotional wreck resulting from being left behind when the orphanage was closed and shut down, the once-cute orphan is now mean and devious. The story continues with numerous monsters attacking the child as he continues to search for his birth mother.

I met someone online I believe is dangerous or worse?
This man has been recruiting and training people over the internet and apparently offline he told me he ran a corperation and he constantly calls it the business and never stops talking about it He said in order to make my life matter I need to give up the lie of love so instead of throwing away my dreams and education for sex and other useless stuff I would work and be successful he is teaching others to recruit and honestly I don’t think he is telling the truth about everything but he is not a lieing kid and he is trying to find me and being successful at it Please I am worried about my childern. heres what he said to someone with me present I don’t know what this guy does and maybe it even works for some but I have a family and I want out what should i do?

(Dragon)Vortex: I will explain the minds
(Dragon)Vortex: was getting coffee
(Dragon)Vortex: and after were done it will be christmas eve
(Dragon)Vortex: :)
(Dragon)Vortex: ok lets start with my *mistakes* with cobra
(Dragon)Vortex: which were intentional but
(Dragon)Vortex: Lets pretend i am not who i am
(Dragon)Vortex: The first mistake I made was not asking him about his dreams and goals before hand
(Dragon)Vortex: i did not know until after the business conversation what it was he wanted to be
(Dragon)Vortex: that is not always a costly mistake but it can be ap roblem should the person wish to be a family man
(Dragon)Vortex: and please pay attention this is the most important lesson u will ever hear on recruiting
(Dragon)Vortex: if u don’t have time
(Dragon)Vortex: say so now
(Dragon)Vortex: its extremely important
(Dragon)Vortex: u take in every word
(Dragon)semisolidfall: i have time
(Dragon)Vortex: now to be able to accurately judge the mind you have to understand character yes
(Dragon)Vortex: even over the computer
(Dragon)Vortex: U cant do this as soon as you meet someone
(Dragon)Vortex: U may think u have them figured out but until u get them to calm down and sit with you in a normal conversation about anything
(Dragon)Vortex: U cant accurately judge them
(Dragon)Vortex: First you must test how open minded they are
(Dragon)Vortex: say something they won’t normally believe
(Dragon)Vortex: in my case I don’t have to make it up
(Dragon)Vortex: but you could say you are a millionare or something
(Dragon)Vortex: or perhaps make urself off as someone dangerous
(Dragon)Vortex: don’t push the bounds beyond that which u can explain thou
(Dragon)Vortex: If you make a story u have to be able to back it up
(Dragon)Vortex: I can
(Dragon)Vortex: if ur lieing u cant
(Dragon)Vortex: so tread careful cause this story will stick for the rest of ur life with this recruit
(Dragon)Vortex: If he believes you push a little more
(Dragon)Vortex: make it out as if u only told him half the story
(Dragon)Vortex: If he starts swearing or questioning u know u have a hard one of ur hands and the chances of failure are a flip of a coin
(Dragon)Vortex: and even after he is ur in grasp
(Dragon)Vortex: u can lose it all because he just *changed his mind*
(Dragon)Vortex: the people who question
(Dragon)Vortex: are the hardest to recruit
(Dragon)Vortex: and most of the time end badly
(Dragon)Vortex: but there are some who don’t
(Dragon)Vortex: some u know personally like brad
(Dragon)Vortex: and willy
(Dragon)Vortex: they may not be with me but nor do they oppose me
(Dragon)Vortex: But of course this is all info you need to be prepared during ur conversation
(Dragon)Vortex: you know you have a bad egg from the start if u see four certain signs
(Dragon)Vortex: One a lust for money
(Dragon)Vortex: the business is not about money
(Dragon)Vortex: it is not about doing it for money
(Dragon)Vortex: money is just a mouse trap to lure them in if need be
(Dragon)Vortex: the business is about loyality
(Dragon)Vortex: two
(Dragon)Vortex: simple minded
(Dragon)Vortex: the most useless one
(Dragon)Vortex: will make potshots or jokes or not take the conversation seriously
(Dragon)Vortex: if someone is playing a video game while u are giveing them this talk
(Dragon)Vortex: remove them
(Dragon)Vortex: they are doomed for failure
(Dragon)Vortex: and care not to hear what u say
(Dragon)Vortex: they will respond and read it yes
(Dragon)Vortex: but ultimiately
(Dragon)Vortex: they just wish to oppose you and everything u stand for
(Dragon)Vortex: such as cobra
(Dragon)Vortex: notice he made a joke
(Dragon)Vortex: and at his end
(Dragon)Vortex: he blantly told us he didn’t care
(Dragon)Vortex: and looked at it as a win
(Dragon)Vortex: not realizeing I was useing him to show you
(Dragon)Vortex: you will be able to feel a certain aura off of people usually if they do not care
(Dragon)Vortex: ull know by the attitude
(Dragon)Vortex: if they have no questions or don’t try to ask about things
(Dragon)Vortex: thats another thing
(Dragon)Vortex: the way they ask also determines personallity
(Dragon)Vortex: some people NEED the lie
the lie as he calls it is love and this is not the full conversation He does have alot of money and ability because I have not told him anything about myself and he has my number and is working on my address

Apple's AirPort Express?
Okay so, I go to Mexico every December and my grandparents pretty much live in the middle of nowhere. Most of my cousins go and they all have laptops. If I am correct, AirPort Express allows you to create a wireless network. Do I have to have an existing internet connection to make a wireless network? It would then be the solution to our problem because we are used to the internet because we live in the city and you have to pay a certain amount for being on the computer if we go to another town.
I have Comcast highspeed internet. Can I just connect it to comcast and take it with me to Mexico?

I need a quick answer. Out of 2001 and Galaxy Quest, which was your favourite space movie?
I’ve limited to the two, because I need specific feedback. (BTW I love both films)… but on the one hand you have this visually awesome epic which even the director cannot explain, and on the other hand you have this modern tale of human nature, ranging from total apathy to fan-worship, and the resolution of the two. Plus some go-to-hell special effects. what’s your opinion? I need it now!

Cool! Two of my favorite films that are fun to watch for wildly different reason’s.

"2001" was for me, a coming of age film. Made at the height of the space race and just before the lunar landings. It showed where we could go and almost how to get there. I couldn’t get enough of it when it first came out. Needless to say, it left quite an impression. What happen to space exploration after the end of the Apollo era was quite heartbreaking for me at the time. Only now are we getting back into the swing of things for exploration on a grand scale.

It was also ground breaking in it showed just how boring and spectacular space travel really is. The hand crafted special effects (CGI was barely a dream back then), raised the bar of making an SF to a high art form cinema. Something that George Pal in the 50’s only wished he could of done. The technical work behind "2001" open the doors to all sorts of later SF films and is still the benchmark that other films and shows try to archive.

"Galaxy Quest" is nearly the opposite to "2001". It doesn’t take itself seriously. It spoofs nearly every SF cliche ever thought of. But its done with great care and it shows what a good script and acting crew can do for a film. Its a hoot to watch (its a rainy day favorite at our star parties).

Now, I would go a step further and ask you to watch "Forbidden Planet" (which is partly based on the play, "King Lear") and compare it to the above two films and see how far the SF film has come.

Now as an aside. I’m also a huge fan of "Mystery Science Theater 3000". And have quite the selection of 50’s and 60’s era SF films (the good, the bad and the awful).

galaxy quest make me laugh more, and about 2001 was different and rare i don’t like much

Nope, thew new version of Star Trek
sparkles | Dec 14, 2009

"Galaxy Quest" was funny. "2001" was a visually stunning attempt to show what Arthur Clarke had no trouble describing, but wandered from dull to incomprehensible.

Its good to see that someone liked the new "Star Trek". I found it ludicrous, derivative and somewhat insulting to the old classic characters we loved 40 years ago.
